Nico Terra
“People do want to change, but they don’t want to be changed”
That is my motto in my work as an organisational consultant.
I primarily see myself as a director of change, stimulating those involved to play their own part in change processes. My approach is result-oriented, with a clear direction and contribution by the people involved.
In this role, I have supervised a variety of organizations in developing new organizational set-ups in recent years.
Recent projects
- Transition manager in the migration and integration of two international IT divisions of an oil company.
- Project manager in the merger of funds transfer institutions and setting up the new organization.
- Change manager in the reorganization of various IT departments of a bank insurer.
- Consultant in the reorganisation of several corporate support departments of a social benefits agency.
- Project manager for the introduction of team-oriented work at a government inspection department.
- Supervising the merger of two Intermediate Vocational Training institutions and interim manager in restructuring the new organization around educational teams.
- Consultant in the reorganization and restructuring of a large institute for adult education and naturalization.
- Coach in professionalizing a healthcare insurer’s P&O department.
CV
I have been active as an external organization consultant since the early 1980s. Prior to that, I studied social and organisational psychology at the Free University of Amsterdam and also conducted research on the behaviour and motivation in organizations for a few years. I then switched to practical work where I combine organizational and change science.I concentrate on looking for and implementing appropriate organizational set-ups.
My motivation
What motivates me is creating enthusiasm for new working methods. I use work conferences, workshops, simulations and training courses in leadership and management for this.
Private life
I get inspiration from travelling, reading and sports. I enjoy cycling in the mountains and derive great satisfaction from arriving at the top of a mountain pass and enjoying a new view.of: ".. where I combine my knowledge of both organizations and change" – we weten niet of “kunde” hier letterlijk bedoeld wordt.
